I threw caution to the wind. It threw it back. I ducked.

Used Dashboard for years. It's the reason I never went to w95. It worked
so great with w3.1 I didn't even want w98 but software available forced
that change. Fabulous program!

can you direct me to it? The only dashboard I found was a MAC thing

I doubt it is available any more. HP made it but that was in 1993. They
sold it a few years later. It's moot now since MS copied a number of
features, like quick launch, from it to w95 and up. It was a shell
replacement for Windows. Surprisingly, I still have it on my system.
Here is a screen shot:

Thank you very much for that screenshot. It is sufficient for me to
understand the
programs function.

I think that he means the MAC Dashboard and not this old program.
In other words that the Mac dashboard stole konfabutators Ideas.
I can see a logic to that. I have read about it on some sites also.

There is seldom something I have not heard of but this old dashboard is one
if them.

MS keeps buying technologies and using them. It seems that its faster than
innovating their own technologies.

It was a great program. I hated to see it go. Extremely configurable.
Replaced the horrible Program Manager in 3.1x. One nice feature was you
could set alarms in the calendar module, even years ahead.

I've not seen the Mac Dashboard.

MS claims the innovation high road but really they take the low road,
since they are pretty much incapable of innovation. One example is tabs
in Excel which came from Borland's Quattro Pro for Windows (which, BTW,
I still use). Another, of course, is the GUI which Apple first made
popular. Got to give them credit for seeing a good idea and running with
it. Maybe MAC is doing that now.

Glad I was able to provide you with a bit of computer software history.
IIRC, Starfish is the company that bought Dashboard from HP.
