I have Norton Internet Security 2003 which contains both an anti-virus
program and a firewall and pop-up blocker. This was given to me as a present
and I have not installed it at this time. Currently I have AVG free version,
Zone Alarm free version and Pop-Up Stopper from panicware free version
running.

Is Norton and better choice for protecting my Windows XP and ultimately for
protecting MSN 8? Thanks.

Yes! Make sure to uninstall all the programs you mentioned
before installing Norton Internet Security 2003.

Norton Internet Security and Anti-virus coexist with Zone
Alarm and other virus programs just fine. I would not
uninstall anything. One caution, though; if you have
networked several computers through a home gateway-
router, then you do not need either Zone Alarm or Norton
Internet Security. In any case, you cannot have too much
virus protection. To install Norton System Works from
a "Clean Install" so that you minimize problems from the
install, go to Start/Run and enter "msconfig". When the
configuration screen opens, activate the third radio
button, then uncheck the first, second, and fourth
boxes. Then click on the second tab from the right and
check the box "hide all microsoft..." in the lower left,
then click "disable all" in the lower right. click OK to
close the configuration tool. Click OK to reboot. After
the system comes back up, cancel the configuration tool,
install SystemWorks 2003 and follow the directions.
After several reboots when everything is installed and
updated redo the Start/Run/"msconfig" to reopen the
configuration tool and check the first box on the opening
tab. This restores all services. Reboot and done.

This is a lost of work for little gain. Norton is a
little better than the freeware you are using and I think
the real benifit is using only one suite. This makes
appling update easier. Uninstall the freeware reboot and
install Norton.
