Would like blank screen to open instead of blank.pot template file

When I launch PowerPoint, I would like it to open to a blank screen, not the
blank.pot template file. How do I change the settings to make this happen?
 
Can you describe "blank screen"? You can set Tools > Options > View > Default
View to "View saved in the file". Then, if you customize your blank.pot and
give it no "normal" slides and you set the view to your preference (e.g. close
the Outline pane and the Task pane), you can save the blank.pot and you'll get
the view you want. See:
