I turn on my system and get the error message "...power
management frequency, your system will shut down"...and
then it counts down for one minute and shuts off. I can
boot up into safemode. What's causing this?

I've got the same kind of problem, but mine happens when
i connect onto internet and play for a while. mine
doesn't shut down though, it restarts the computer. It
also says that "Remote Procedure Call (RPC) is
terminating unexpectedly" <--- something like this. It
also counts down for 1 minute.
I don't know what it is, but lots of my friends got this
and they said it's the new VIRUS for Window XP. And then
they suggested me to this WEB they said that this web has
something to protect our com from this kind of VIRUS, but
i still don't know where to look for this protection. T_T

Greetings --

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
installed the KB824146 Hotfix, without having first installed an
antivirus application with current virus definition files, and before
enabling a firewall, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.
