Worm of some kind

When I log on the internet I am logged off shortly
afterwords and the PC restarts. I have a new PC with
Windows XP Home Edition on it.

Norton 2004 gave me a warning about a W32WelChia.B
(spelling?) worm. I downloaded a repair utility to fix
it, but after running it indicated it could not find the
worm above.

I am at a loss as to how to identify and repair whatever
the worm/virus is that is terminating my connection the
the internet.

Can anyone tell me what to do about this short of
reinstalling XP?

You can email me directly at (e-mail address removed)

thanks

Mike

Describes what the welchia worm does

2.welchia.worm.html

The removal tool
w32.welchia.worm.removal.tool.html

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates,
patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and
enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut
down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to
preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools
