Workstation Access

I'm having trouble accessing some workstations on our LAN
Using XP Pro on all workststions.
Most ask for a "user Name" and "password" which is
prefered.
Some just allow access to the shared folders without
asking for a password. I don't see why they are different
and would like to know why.
One station won't allow access at all. The "user name"
box is gray and won't accept anything. It
Shows "workstation name"\guest and although I can enter
passwords, none of them work. The Built-in Guests
Profile is turned off in all the workstations. I can't
find anything in local security setting or permissions
that I'm familiar with that helps (or looks different).
Any suggestions where to look and what to look for.
Thanks,
Jim

To disable this feature and return to the old per-user permissions:

1. Open the Local Security Policy console in the Administrative Tools
folder, under the Programs menu.
2. Browse down to: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security
Settings\Local Policies\Security Options.
3. Double-click on the Network Access: Sharing And Security Model For Local
Accounts.
4. Change the settings from Guest Only to Classic.
REBOOT!

OK that helped part of it. Thanks a bunch. Now I can
access the one computer that locked me out by entering a
password. I'm still confused however. Some stations ask
for the password and some don't. They connect to the
shared files and printers without asking for passwords.
I tested another one which also said "guest only" in the
Local Policies and nothing changed. Still a little
confused as to why I can get into that one (and all the
others) even though they were/are on "Guest Only" and
didn't/don't lock me out. Any clues as to why? Thanks
again.
