Hi,
However, I am beginning to experiment with Excel and have begun to build
worksheets for my job. I have hit a brick wall and have not been able to
find a solution in Excel books and formula websites. Before I ask my
question, I will say that I am by no means a computer scholar and may not be
current with the jargon. I may have passed right over the answer in a
separate post. Here is my question:

What formula can mirror a data cell in one worksheet into a separate
worksheet. For example, if cell A1 on Worksheet A equals 789, then I would
like for cell C4 on Worksheet B to equal that same number. Later, if I
change cell A1 on worksheet A to 456, then cell C4 on worksheet B will
change to 456 automatically.

Also, are there any websites, books, or other resources that list excel and
access formulas, tips, and tricks that anyone would highly recommend?

Thanks for any help in advance for a solution in layman terms!

something simple like:

=Sheet1!A1 in cell C4 will point to cell A1 on Sheet1

In cell C4, just type an "=" sign and then select the sheet and the cell you
want it to refer to.

You could use a formula like:

=sheet1!a1
(in C4 of sheet2)

But if a1 on sheet1 is empty, you'll see a 0.

So one way to avoid that is:
=if(sheet1!a1="","",sheet1!a1)

I find the easiest way to make sure I get the syntax correct is to go to the
cell that should contain the formula. Type an = (equal sign) and then use the
mouse to point at the other cell (on the other worksheet).

Then excel will do the heavy lifting of getting the syntax correct.

Lots of people like John Walkenbach's book on formulas:

And Debra Dalgleish has a big old list of books at:

You may want to print that and visit your local bookstore to find one that fits
best for you.
