I did a clean install on a brand new second drive, with XP on the other..
over a month has past, I disconnected the XP drive and all is swell. A
couple of old programs did not work, but other free programs were out there
to replace them.. That's my story
 
Hi dwolf,

I too have found Vista to be solid as well. I ran dualboot for a time but
decided that there was no need for a fallback so XP Pro went.

I like it. I was not planning to migrate, but my laptop went belly up and I
purchased another one with Home Premium preloaded. Everything works. I just
had to upgrade RAM to 2 Gb for comfort. It is very stable and gives
excellent performances.
 
I know people out there are having trouble with Vista, but it can't be all
Vista's fault.
I have noticed that there has been a lot of bad advice from sellers ( for
the sake of a sale ) or that some are trying to run Vista on under par
computers.
For the ones that are planning on buying a new computer do your homework and
cover all bases. Read this forum as despite some of the rhetoric there is
good advise on here. Also don't just do a software upgrade over an existing
o/s do a clean install. If you have an old computer and you want to run Vista
bit the bullet and buy a new one or upgrade your hardware so that you can run
it.
The important thing to remember is that ALL new O/S's have problems even
going back to the DOS 5 days. Except for Millenium ( lolol what a joke ) all
O/S's have ended up being relatively good O/S's.
I am in not way backing Microsoft on this but in everything in life you get
the good with the bad and it is is pure luck as to which one you get, but as
I said with homework and research that should cut the bad luck right down.
