Good luck with your son.

| Thank you very much all of you for your good advises. Sure
that I would kiss you. My son is not so bad, by the way, but
I think sincerely that he is almost sick... with computer!

| In addition to your user account with administrator
privileges, there is a
| hidden admin account which if you don't set a
password during XP setup, can
| be accessed by leaving the password blank and
pressing enter. As Jim
| Macklin has pointed out in his post in this thread,
if you boot to safe
| mode, the hidden Administrator account is listed and
if no password was set
| for the hidden account, a user could access it by
simply leaving the
| password blank. That would give your son the ability
to do what he has
| done.
|
| You can boot to Safe Mode and set a password for the
hidden account as
| follows. Boot the System, start tapping F8, when the
menu appears, select
| Safe Mode and press enter. At the Safe Mode log in
screen, select
| Administrator as opposed to your user account name,
leave the password blank
| and press enter.
|
| Decline the option to go to System Restore. At the
Safe Mode desktop, open
| Control Panel, open User Accounts, open the
Administrator account, the
| account named "Administrator," click Create a
password and then create a
| password for the account, make sure it is different
from the password for
| your user account. Also, in the left pane, you will
see an option to
| prevent lost or forgotten passwords, select it and
create a password reset
| disk. This is very important because if things go
wrong that you cannot fix
| in your own administrator account or your account
becomes corrupted, you
| will need to access this account and the password
reset disk will prevent
| you from losing that password. If you don't and you
happen to forget that
| password, your only alternative will be to format,
losing everything and
| start over.
|
| If your son still manages to get around this, he's
not being straight with
| you about not knowing your password or in this case
passwords.
