I am using a linksys broadband router to network 4 pcs to the net. All pcs are in the same workgroup. Two are using windows xp home, one is using windows xp pro and one is using windows 2000

One xp home computer can connect to xp pro without being asked for username and pass, this used to be the same for the other xp home pc

The xp pro pc can connect to all other xp machines without being asked for username and password

None of the xp machines can connect to the windows 2000 pc without username and password

How can i set up the computers so that no username and password is asked for when viewing shared folders

The 2000 professional machine on your network has different rights and privileges than the xp boxes do. In order to browse the shares on the 2000 box, you must add the accounts of the xp boxes as users on the 2000 box and give them rights to the shared resources there of. Once you do that, 2000 wont ask for username and passwords from the users that are logged into the xp machine.
