Hi all.
Why is it that suddenly out of the blue I can't access the network?
When I click on My network places, all the previous icons have gone. On all
computers. And when I click on Workgroup computers or on the shortcuts, I
get this message.

XXnetwork is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the Administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions.
The network path was not found.

This is a home network, all with WinXP. Netgear Router/modem which is
working fine.
We can all access the internet and we can also access all pcs on 'Search for
Computers' on My network places.
We haven't installed or done anything different since it was working this
morning, except one of the pcs had a Windows Update.
How can I fix this please to behave as it should?

Thank you for all your time.
I looked at every one of the sites you gave but they are all about how to
set up a network and how they work and what equipment one needs.
I already have a network set up, and know how they work and I have all the
correct configurations seeing as it's been working for months with no
problem until yesterday morning.
There was nothing on why it suddenly blocks you out which is why I was
seeking help for this particular question, which I can't find anywhere else.

If nothing changed except you installed a Windows Update, uninstall the
Update and see if that fixes things. If it does, I suggest you contact
Microsoft for assistance.

Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from
Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no
charge for support calls that are associated with security updates. I
don't know what the company's policy is regarding this assistance if
you not in the U.S. or Canada, but here is an international contact

I have the same problem as Dave, windows update was performed last night and
now I canot access the workgroup. Workgroup was fine last night and I have
not made any changes. Cannot access workgroup or shared folders through my
network places on any of the 6 computers here, but I can ping my name and by
IP and I can get to the other computers through the address bar in explorer
ie \\linkstation\share. The hub is working fine but still cannot access
workgroup. Did anyone come up with a solution for this problem and \dave did
you solve it and how?
