Hi,
I have a WinXP Pc (PC name = Temp) configured with static ip and a member in
workgroup.
I sharing out few folders from it. When I try to access this PC from other
location, it prompted me error:

"Temp is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
permission. Access is denied."

I tried to uninstall and reinstall back the file and printer sharing
permission in TCP/IP but not working.
Anyone can guide how to overcome this?

Thanks in advance.

The error "not accessible...access denied" can have several causes.

First, check for misconfigured / overlooked firewalls, and for registry setting
restrictanonymous, on each computer.
Misconfigured / overlooked firewalls:

Registry setting restrictanonymous:

If no help yet, look closely at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely:

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.

Thanks Chuck.
I upgraded the machine to Service Pack 2. I went thru your article and
followed your guide by using "netsh winsock reset catalog"
to repair the LSP/winsock layer and it works!

Thanks again!
