When choosing Box and Border style calendar from the wizard, the new calendar is displayed without any boxes around the dates. I can edit this under using the Borders and Shading editor but it will not apply to the entire document. You can imagine how inconvenient it is to do each month for a 2 or 3 year calendar.
 
Select the entire table (Alt+double-click), then apply the Grid border.
