Word XP language conversion

I have a computer that has Chinese language and every time I open a new
file in Word it kicks back to Chinese though I have set the language
default to English US. My control panel Language is also set to
English. I am at a loss now to find out why my default doesn't hold.
HELP

WHERE in the Control Panel have you set to English? Maybe the article on
language formatting in Word that I have in the Tips section of my website
will help?
