Please email a Word newsgroup with
* the Word version
* exact steps followed and any error messages etc

Office (Word) was never part of any version of Windows and is still not part
of XP. You will now need to re-install Office (Word) in order to repair it.

If you use Outlook Express, you need to change the "Security Settings" in
order to allow all attachments.

Wrong terminology. You bought and *installed* XP Home edition.
How did you install it? Did you upgrade over ME or did you do a clean
install?

You probably need to re-install Word.

OK, Mike.

It is Microsfoft Word 2000. There are no error messages. Everything is
slow and then hard to navigate.

I phoned MS and asked them if there was anything special I needed to do so as
to no disrupt what I already had. Someone on the phone told me just to
install the CD and everything would be "overridden" and assured me it would
be fine.

I was able to open up one attachment just now and make some changes and save
it, but it took forever.

Have you tried re-installing Word?

This is *still* not a Word newsgroup......

How do I reinstall? If it means using the same install CD I don't think I
have that? How can I just get the Word I used when I was on ME?

Ok, thank you. Forgive my stupidity I don't know much about these things. If
I do have the CDs (I think I found them) will I lose everything I have on my
desktop?

How come I didn't have to reinstall my printer and Outlook Express?
(although a nice HelpDesk person from the Nova Scotia center helped me with
the Outlook Express stuff).

I know these were dumb questions...

If you don't have the Word/Office CD:

Installing Word won't destroy your data. Not having a backup of your
data though is just insanity.

Apart from not being psychic enough to know exactly what you were doing.
Outlook Express and printer drivers are part of WINDOWS. WORD/OFFICE
are separate products.
