word xp crashes

i'll start up word and then about 5 seconds later, a box
says an error has occurred and it has to close. i tried
reinstalling office, but it still occurs. any advice?

Do a search for a file called normal.dot and delete it. You will lose
any customised templates when you do this. If you have any, rename the
file instead. Word will build a new file when you next launch it.
