Word is crashing shortly after bring it up and beginning typing. I
uninstalled/reinstalled it and that worked for a little while (maybe a week)
and now it is back to doing the same thing. I followed instructions that
were posted in similar postings and nothing seems to be helping. I REALLY
don't want to have to Quick Restore and reinstall everything.

Have you cleaned your system of spyware?
1. Ad-aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
2. Spybot Search & Destroy:

First of all, thank you to everyone for your suggestions.

I have Office 2002, it doesn't look like it applies to this problem but you
never know. I actually have the Action Pack Subscription and that is what is
installed. I'm going to reinstall Adaware and run that. Spybot didn't find
anything. I can try installing Office 2003 if this doesn't work. Any other
hints.

Did you see if you can start Word using the /a switch as indicated in
the article? Go to Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash.
