I also have a windows xp machine with works pro installed.

When I send a works document to other people they say that they cannot open
the documents in word.

The same applies if I save to floppy or other and try to open the document
in word

Is this normal?. What can I do?

Many thanks Steve.

yes. Just one more example of one MS document format not being recognised
by another MS application......
What can I do?

In Works do a "Save As" and choose Word format......

Thank you Gordon,

Is there a XP Word/Works specific newsgroup, I may be going blind but I
could not see the like.

Second, If I save as ..... Word format...... (by the way, there was two
listings for word, so I guessed which would be best),

To continue, if I save in word format, will I still be able to open it in
Works.

Although I have not tried it yet, if somebody sends me a "Word" doc' will I
be able to open it in Works.

Any link on this topic would be very useful.

Many thanks for your help Steve

Word is capable of opening many different document formats, including
Works. In the Open File dialog select the proper file type at the bottom
using the drop-down menu. Either that or you save the Works document as
a Word document using the same type of selection in the Save As dialog.

Hi Steve

Once I save a works doc' as a word document, will I be able to open and work
on it in works pro?

Second, will I be able to open word documents in works pro, i.e. word
documents sent as e-mail attachments.

Cheers Steve.
