"WordViewer" is a serious hint as to why you cannot edit!

Sorry, you can't edit in Word viewer. Depending on what version of Works you have, and what version of Word file you want to open, there may be some text converters that you can install into Works that will let you open the Word files from Works. If you have Works 4.x(95), see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;246566. I think Works 2000 has a text converter for Word somewhere on the CD.

Thank you that was very helpful although I KNEW that you couldn't edit in
a VIEWER what I meant was what can I get or download in order to edit. Thank
you for understanding the question and for your help!

With your viewer you "might" try Save As,
either RTF or 6.0!
from there you could edit the file with WordPad.
