I just recently got a new computer with Windows XP home edition on it. I tried to open up the files that are stored on my floppy disks, but all I get are some "funky" looking squares, dots, and other symbols on the files instead of what was originally put on it. I heed HELP!!!!!!!!!!11

You must install the same software program on your computer
running Windows XP that originally created the files, then you
can open those floppy disk files.

You need to install a version of Microsoft Word in order to open
Word documents files.

Purchase and install Microsoft Word or Works Suite 2004.

You need the program that you created the files with installed on the winxp
PC. You need to do a bit of reading, because what you describe is a very
beginning basic computer point. That is not meant as aput down, merely an
observation of fact. Also, it is not a great idea to open files on a floppy,
transfer(copy) them to the my docs folder or somewher on the new PC. Then
open them. But, still, YOU NEED the progarm or one that will open the file
type you have.

You obviously need application packages such as Office 2003 or Office XP. May I suggest that you download the viewers for the time being to get a taste of your new computer. The link for the download site is here:

Please note that this download site is the official Microsoft site so you don't have to worry of any malicious software. I would never download [and install] any other software from some sites offering "free" trial versions etc.
