Word Templates

When I try to open a word template, the templates do not launch, a regular blank word document opens. When I close down Word, I get a dialog box stating the file "normal" already exists, do I want to replace it

Can anyone help me out

The normal.dot template is the default template for Word, Rusty. It's
supposed to be a blank document unless you've altered it in some way.

Try other templates available under File-New.
