Word should have real New Zealand English instead of American.

I am dismayed to find that the "New Zealand English" dictionary used by
office products is not actually the New Zealand English that we speak and use
in New Zealand! As far as I can tell it is just the same as the American
English dictionary.

For example, the default New Zealand English dictionary used by Word
recognises "recognize" as correct spelling. This is not the case! I wish to
be able to communicate in my own language. My student colleagues rely on the
dictionary to show them correct spelling as English is a second language for
them. However, Word's dictionary is teaching them incorrectly and I am left
to do the translation.

I want Microsoft to do their research and provide an authentic New Zealand
dictionary.

I'm not from NZ, I'm from Australia, but I think we share the same issue.

The Word dictionaries for both NZ English and Australian English allow
both -ise and -ize as spellings for words like organize and realize. The
problem is that common usage (at least as I observe it in Australia) is to
use -ise. But the dictionaries prefer -ize.

I think I'm right in saying that the Macquarie Dictionary (which has become
a kind of de facto standard of Australian English) uses both, but
prefers -ize. I don't know if there's an equivalent NZ dictionary of record.
The [British] Oxford English Dictionary says:

".in modern French the suffix has become -iser.... But the suffix itself ...
is in its origin the Greek [ ], Latin -izare; and, as the pronunciation is
also with z, there is no reason why in English the special French spelling
should be followed, in opposition to that which is at once etymological and
phonetic. In this Dictionary the termination is uniformly written -ize."

Given that lots of people use -ise, but the main dictionaries use -ize, I
guess it's reasonable for Word to allow both as correct.

I do note, however, that Word marks "Bledisloe" as a spelling error in both
NZ and Australian English. Now that is serious<g>.
