I am generating reports using Crystal Reports. The reports are generated as
word documents. Once the document is created, it should not be modified....Is
there anyay this can be done..? Since many reports are generated each time,
it's not feasible to change the settings for each and every report.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Can you convert the reports to PDF documents?

Ultimately this is going to be a matter of negotiation between you and your
users. However, the requirements as you've stated them seem mutually
exclusive.

If the document is in Word format, it can be changed. Word is inherently an
editor, not a "non-editor". The only difference among various protection
schemes is whether it takes a determined user 5 seconds or 5 minutes to
break them.

If the documents must be secure against alteration, you cannot leave them in
Word format. (Even PDF isn't very secure, as there are programs to convert
PDF back to Word format.) If the object is merely to prevent accidental
alteration, mark them as read-only. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to train
users not to tamper with reports.
