How do I incorporate spell check and grammer check in my
word pad documents. Why is it not there? Does windows xp
home have a better document to use thatI am just not
aware of?

Word Pad is an upgraded note pad with basic features.
If you want more, then you need to purchase a separate word processing
application, or download one of the free ones available on the internet.

The dilemma is, MS also makes word processing sftwr. You are expected to
purchase sftwr. with these features.
If you're frugle, check into OpenOffice, which is a freely availabe office
sweet with the features you are looking for.

Windows XP is an operating system.. it is NOT a word processing package.. it
is NOT a desktop publisher program.. it is NOT a 'home finances' program..
it IS an operating system..

WordPad is a very basic word processing package, there are lots and
lots of things it doesn't do. If you want more features, you need to
get a more advanced program. Microsoft Word does the things you ask
about and much more besides. It's available at office supply stores,
computer stores, etc, etc.

A cheaper alternative is Open Office (www.openoffice.com). That's a
free, open-source office suite that includes word processor,
spreadsheet, presentation creator, etc. There are a number of spell
checkers to choose from
(http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/download_dictionary.html), but I
don't believe it does grammar checking.
