Word pad doc .wpd

I have files of .wpd created Feb 1997, definitely with MS
Word, quite possibly word 97. How or what need I do in
order to transfer them and open them on my new computer
with MS Suite 2003 win XP home. ??

..WPD files are createdby Corel WordPerfect

Which suite do you have: Works Suite or Office?
