Word opens doc in print preview..how to change that?

I don't see how to set Word to open in Print Preview without the help of a
macro, so if that is really what is happening you need to investigate what
is in your autonew macro. I suspect however that the document is opening in
Reading Layout view, which you can disable from tools > options > general.
