Word not opening for single user.

Posted this on the office boards but haven't gotten very far with it and it
seems like a Window's Issue.

Word will not open for this one user. Other office apps work. Other users
can log into the machine and open Word. It is office 2000. What the IT guys
have said is to Delete the profile and then the login client (novell) will
recreate the user's profile. But that involves moving over files, favorites,
settings, program access and several more steps which are a little more
troublesome than can be done by the common end-user and require site visits.

Is there a way to fix this? I'm pretty sure it is a profile issue (since
deleting the profile does fix it). But if it's just 1 app, is there a way to
reset just that 1 app for the user instead of having to completely delete the
profile?

search the files in the user profile for "normal.dot" ...delete it , Word
will recreate it at next run

did this help ?

Sorry I don't know the solution to your problem (other that recreating the
profile). Unfortunately there is no magic tool in XP to "reset just 1 app".

I'm not really looking for a magic tool. Rather I'm looking for a file or
registry key that can be deleted and can solve the problem.

Deleting the Normal.dot did not fix the issue either.

I've also had problems with other office products in combination with other
applications. Such as Hyperion Essbase, Novell Groupwise (integrations).
Having the ability to reset the app for a user would be very handy in these
situations, but I'm beginning to feel that there isn't going to be a way.
