How can I create a common (network shared) Normal.dot template so all users
on a network can access and use the same macros when creating documents.

What I have seen that works well is to create a blank template with all of
your customizations (macros, toolbars, etc.) in it and place that file out
on a network folder location that all can get to. have each computer user
do the following:

1. Open Word, click "Tools", "Options".
2. Click the "File Locations" TAB.
3. Highlight the bottom option "Startup", then click the "Modify" button.
4. Browse to the folder where this ONE template resides and select that
folder.
5. "OK" your way out.
6. Close Word, then re-open

All of your customizations will be available for use. Keep in mind that if
you need to update this one template file, all folks pointing to this folder
will need to close Word first before the file can be updated.

Hope this works for you!

You must not share normal.dot! It is not intended to be used that way.
Instead create a global template that contains your macros etc and point all
the users Word startup folders to the network location that contains the
file. For company documents, use document templates located in a common
workgroup folder and insist that the users employ those templates for
company documents.

You do _not_ want to share normal.dot. You want to share a different global
template.

See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, macros, etc.
