Word keeps closing

Sometimes when I'm toggling between different Word files (alt + tab), Word
will all the sudden close all the files. When I reopen Word, that window on
the side about recovered files opens up. I'm quite confused as to why this
happens, and it doesn't occur regularly. I have Word 2002. I checked the
Microsoft updates page, and I'm all up to date.

Any help or insight into this problem would be really wonderful. Thanks!
