word keeps closing

I have just installed office xp on new comp', activated by phone. Whenever I
try to insert a shape word closes . I have not had this problem on my laptop
and am very frustrated? Any ideas?

Hard to say what the problem is from the limited information you have
provided, but I would start by checking for a display driver upgrade from
the display adapter manufacturer's web site. Then I would check out
