word, high up the pagenummbers

the pagenumbers in word count till 9999, my document is 16343 pages big, now
I can't see the total pagenumber
 
Not sure what you're referring to here. Word's limit is 32768 pages. The
status bar display showing page and section displays as ***/*** over 10,000;
but the page number itself still shows at the start of the status bar, and
page numbers in headers and footers still work as expected.
 
More than likely you inserted the page numbers using Insert/Page
Numbers which will place the page number in a Frame. Unfortunately it
doesn't automatically increase in width when the page number get
larger. You should delete the current page number field in the Frame
and insert the page number field again using the Header and Footer
toolbar which will not use a Frame.

- Go to View/Header and Footer
- Click next to the page number to locate the Frame
- Place your mouse on the edge of the Frame and click to select it
- Press Delete to remove it
- Use the Page Number command on the Header and Footer toolbar to
insert the page number field
