Does anyone know why when I set my margin at 1/2 inch and my tab at 1 inch, what causes the sentence to be pushed out to the 1.5 inch mark? It looks good when I'm typing it, but on print preview it shoots out where it's not supposed to go.

A one-inch tab is measured from the margin and properly will be
one-and-a-half inches from the edge of your page when you have a half-inch
margin. (BTW a half-inch margin is inadequate for most uses.) You might also
look into setting the left-indent rather than using a tab.

Because 1 plus 1/2 equals 1.5
