Word filename

There is a MS Word document that is many folders deep in our network (the
shares are on a windows 2000 advanced server). Including spaces, slashes,
etc and the filename itself, the total character count is 250 characters. I
can open this file in Word 2003. Another co-worker, who is also running
Windows XP and Word 2003, cannot open it unless I shorten the filename so the
total character count is 240 or less. Why is that? Why can some people open
this file and she can't? How do I fix this? Thanks in advance!!

Hi

This happens to me sometimes too, and it can be very frustrating!

However, it's a Windows problem, not a Word problem. The same issue would
apply if the file were an Excel workbook or a PowerPoint presentation.

You might like to ask your question in one of the Windows newsgroups.

Hope this helps.
