is there a way to "import" graphs from Exel into Word so that when i change
values on the graph in excel, it's also changed in Word, so that i don't have
to cut-paste every time i update the graph?

thanks much,
stephen

Hi, Pringles. Read about "Insert information by creating a linked object or
embedded object" and "Control how linked objects are updated" in Word help.
Write back if you have specific questions.

well thank you, i now know how to insert a excel sheet w/o it messing up too
much. but here's my dilema:
i have a multi-sheet excel workbook with which i have previously copy-pasted
specific parts of sheets and whole graphs into pages on a Word document, and
printed them out.
my problem now is I am constanly updating the infromation and printing it
out each time. but the drudgery of copy-pasting everything over and over is
wasting precious time. i need a way to have the same charts and graphs in a
Word document that updates every time i update the excel sheet, so that when
i open the Word document i can simply print out they updated information with
out doing much extra work.
i know that is excutiatingly specific, but i really need this done.

thanks much,
stephen

basically what i'm trying to do is have Chart1 from Excel show up on Page 3
in Word; Graph1 on Excel to show up on Page 4 in Word; etc.

As I suggested in my original reply, you should read about "Control how
linked objects are updated" in Word help, which explains how you can set the
links to manually or automatically update (sounds like you want them to
automatically update).

Select your chart or cell data, press CTRL+C to copy it, switch to Word,
click "Edit", "Paste Special", select the "Microsoft Excel Object" that
should be highlighted, and make sure the "Paste Link" option is checked.

Understood... I do that myself all the time. The detailed instructions in
Word help should get you where you want to go.
