word error

I'm running XP pro...when I open word i get a window stating "changes have
been made that affect the hlobal template, normal, do you want to save those
changes?"
The options are..yes\no\cancel....if you pick yes or no,,word shuts
down.....I tried to fix this by going to : options \save- tab snd I uncheck
the "prompt to save normal template box..after which word won't open at
all.......any suggestions?

The fact you're running XP Pro is irrelevant. Word is not, never has been,
and never will be part of any Windows operating system. For issues with
Word, please post in the correct place - i.e. a Word group, may I suggest
microsoft.public.word.newusers would be as good as any.
