Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to use protection
within a word document. I would like to send these
documents out to our clients, however, I would like to
restrict certain sections so that the clients can't have
access to it.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks,
j

It is not possible. You can do _some_ things in later versions of Word but
nothing as comprehensive as what you are asking about. Consider using hidden
text for what you want to conceal and then converting the document to a .pdf
file (not printing the hidden text).

I'm hoping this doesn't apply to my problem ...

I'm making a template for my company's letterhead. I've inserted the text
and logo, etc, into the header and footer of a template. I can put this
template in a shared folder, and others can create documents from it.

Unfortunately, these other users can also go into the header/footer and
change things. I want those areas protected, so the average user can't
change them. Is that possible? In any way, if not by using header/footer in
a template. I just don't want them to be able to touch just those areas of
the document. They can type away to their heart's content in between those
areas, tho.

Any way to get Word to do that? We have Word 2000, 2002 and 2003 in
production.
