Word docs with Excel links in text

I am attempting to insert numbers from Excel 2002 into a Word 2002 report.
The link would update as the Excel numbers change. When I created the link,
Word inserts a carriage return after the link, which I am not able to delete.
Would appreciate any help. Thx.

Have you tried going over Edit/Paste Special and selecting "Plain text" as the
format type? I think that's the only way you can avoid that paragraph mark.
