Word *.doc files

Is there any way to read a *.doc file (without installing OFFICE) in C#. I
think without an office installation, I cannot use word COMponents, right?
 
There are some 3rd party server components available. Just search the web.
After considering what we needed, we ended up not using any of them and
installing word. Just gave us the most flexibility.
