How can I calculate my word/character count for a book I am working on. The
will be 6" x 9" and font size will be be either 12 or 10.

Thanks
Rose

The size of the finished book is immaterial. You can get a character count
using Tools | Word Count in Word 2003 and earlier, or by clicking the Word
Count button on the status bar in Word 2007 (if you don't see this button,
right-click on the status bar and add it).

Just set the margins so the text area is 6" x 9" or whatever the final text
area will be. The paper size that you tell Word about is irrelevant.
