Hi Al
I am having trouble with the auto save feature on word 2002 (XP) and 2003. Whenever the system autosaves it chages the directory to the profile directory\temp and gives the document a temp name ~XXXX.tmp. If you then save the final document it also saves in this position and is promply deleted when you close word. Is there any way of stopping this from happening. I have searched the internet for answers as I can not be the only one who is experiancing this but there are no mentions of it

Any help would be greatly appreciate

Thanks

There is no autosave function in Word - only the saving of autorecover
information, though why you should be having this peculiar problem is
anyone's guess. Mine would be that there is corruption in the date key in
the registry. Deleting that key will return Word to its default settings -
see http://www.gmayor.com/my_toolbars_are_missing.htm for the procedure. I
would also recommend that you rename normal.dot, temporarily remove any
add-ins from the Word and Office start-up folders and repair Word from
Windows > control panel > add & remove programs - before restarting Word.
Delete any remaining temp files - see
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm and then start Word.
If the problem has gone away, you can re-introduce your add-ins one by one,
then use the organizer to copy any customizations from the old renamed
normal.dot. Tools > options and Tools > autocorrect which are controlled by
the registry data key you will have to restore manually.
