I have two computers using a wireless broadband router. Is it possible to
use those as a LAN and both computers open the same word document at the same
time so that two people can see the same document on both computers and make
changes to it... the changes appearing on the other computer at the time they
were made? I am using XP home. If it is possible, any ideas how? Thanks

No. Microsoft Word is not a multi-user application but
MS Access is.

Thanks.

Next question. Is is possible for one person to save a Word Doc on laptop 1
and close it, with the person on laptop 2 being able to open that same
document (and vice versa). If so how?

I've gone to control panel and enabled file sharing, but not sure how to
actually do it or if it works that way.

You're best to ask these questions to the Word newsgroups (with version
information) as there are many product-specific tricks that the experts
there can help with.

Yes - but that is not a Microsoft Word question - but a "How do i setup a
network" question..

Because Word uses temporary files, one is still best to speak to Word
experts about file-sharing issues. They do know a thing or two about
Windows...

I'd agree, but the question was pretty clear..

The key part.. ".. and close it ..". At that point it is just a Word
document, just like if they saved it on a floppy diskette and handed it to
you to load on your machine.

When the OP took "at the same time" out of their equation - everything
became much simpler.
