Word and Excel

I am not sure if this can be done...

I have a table in a Word doc, in which the cells would correspond to certain
cells in an Excel workbook sheet1.

My question:

How can I tie the cells from the table in .doc from those in the .xls?

Copy in Excel then in Word, Paste>Special>Link
