Word and Excel files

When I open excel files, "running virus scan..." shows up in the lower left
corner and my file never opens. I end up ending task. Word files just shows
the hour glass all the time, won't open. I copy files and try on a different
computer and all is well. Can anyone help?

Open your antivirus program and disable the integration with MS Office.
If you're not sure where to find this option, look in the antivirus
program's Help.

Are you using Norton Antivirus? If so:
Open NAV.
On the Toolbar click Options.
Click Miscellaneous.
Uncheck "Turn Office Plug-in on".
Click Ok and close NAV.

Open a Word doc or Excel workbook and the issue should be gone.
