We are considering upgrading to Outlook 2003, but keeping
Word 2000 and not upgrading to Word 2003. It appears that
we cannot use Word 2000 as the E-mail editor for Outlook
2003. HTML or Rich text can be used, but we will give up
some of the features, such as check spelling as you type.
Does anyone know how to get around this? Also, if anyone
else is familiar with this situation, what else would we
be giving up by upgrading to Outlook 2003 without
upgrading to Word 2003?

There are no workarounds. If you upgrade to Outlook 2003 and want to use
Word as the email editor, you will have to upgrade to Word 2003.

You'll lose the Word specific features (such as grammar check, some
formatting, etc) and you'll lose the Word integration with Contacts (no new
letter to contact, etc).
