I have a new computer and have installed word 2007. I cannot save a file to
enable it to be compatable with older versions.
Note that this is not a Vista question, and really doesn't belong here
in a Vista newsgroup. I'll try to help, but if my answer isn't
sufficient, you should re-ask your question in a Word newsgroup;
that's where the Word experts (I'm not one) hang out.
By default, Word 2007 saves it files in the new .docx format instead
of the old .doc one.
You can optionally change to the .doc format by doing a "Save as"
instead of "Save" and choosing .doc or "Save as Word 07-2003
document."
Alternatively, the people you send your files to might want to add the
ability to open .docx files to their earlier version. Send them to
this page: "Open a Word 2007 document in an earlier version of Word"
at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100444731033.aspx
It says that adobe reader
cannot open the file.
?? Adobe reader can open neither .doc nor .docx files. Why would you
expect it to.
It saves the file as something to do with adobe reader.
Exactly what "something to do with adobe reader" mean? Please be
specific.
It also will not open any files I receive that are older versions.
Are these .doc files? Word 2007 should open .doc files just fine.
