I am trying to author a template for our office use. I want want to insert a
check-box form field that when click by the mouse inserts an "X". Also in the
drop down form field I want to enter a field and allow for free text typing.
I can insert the check box and the drop down field but I cannot format for
the purposes I need. The Step by Step Wood 2003 workbook does not help. How
do I format these cells to the desired results. PLEASE HELP!

Hello Joyce-

The Checkbox will work as you wish, but the form must be 'Locked' or
'Protected' before the control will operate. Protection is preferred because
you can use a password to prevent turning protection off, whereas anyone can
unlock the form.

The Drop Down Form Field is a different story. It is _not_ designed to allow
the user to type content into the field. Only items provided in the list can
be selected by the user completing the form. As a work-around, you might want
to define the list for the 'standard' options and place a Text Form Field
adjacen to it labeled 'Other".
