Sometimes when I open Word 2003, I get a message reading, "There is an open
dialogue box. Please close before proceeding."

This happens although I have no other applications or documents open. What
is causing this?

Close that open dialog box. That dialog box may also belong to another
Office application (eg. Outlook).
This happens although I have no other applications or documents open.

Dialog box != Document
What is causing this?

If you can't find any open dialog box, contact the appropriate group.

You'll probably have better luck getting an answer if you post to the
proper group. Try an Office or Word 2003 group instead. As for the
error, you could be running a macro in Word on startup. (Word will
automatically run what's in its startup folder.)
