We have Word 2003 operating with Windows 2000. There is a computer in our
office that is having the following problem. When a document is opened that
contains an ' - it is showing up as =. This is happening in documents that
are created within our network, and also in documents that have been sent to
us through email by other parties. Has anyone ever encountered this problem.

Specialists on the Word newsgroups may have a better idea.

If the open file is then saved at that point and opened by someone else
do you see "-" or "="?

Probably. But this newsgroup is for the Windows XP operating system, not the
Windows 2000 operating system or one that deals with Word.
