Hi,

Is there a way to embed an Excel object into Word 2003
XML without using Word at all? I was able to it with
pictures, by encoding the picture to base64 and then just
inserting the string into Word XML. I noticed using Word
and viewing the XML of a document with an embedded Excel,
there is a binary representation of the Excel object and
a graphical representation of the Excel in the body. How
to I generate the binary of both?

Thanks

Yong

Hi Yong,

I know of no documentation that tells you how this would be
done. It would certainly be possible if you knew what the
binary information meant, but there's no way to find that
out (short of generating things in Word and making
painstaking comparisons).

What might be more workable would be to put a LINK field in
the XML data that links to an external Excel file.
