Hello:
When I want to write a margin comment in a text, I put the cursor in the space after the word or phrase I want to comment on, but the program brackets the entire word preceding the cursor. I want to know if it is possible to just place a caret in that space, not a bracket. I've just upgraded to W2003 from W2000, and I think the older version allowed that. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how is it accomplished?
Many thanks,

Hi Bill,

When Comments were introduced in Word 97 the word closest to the cursor would be highlighted. They changed this behavior in Word 2000 and there were so many complaints they changed it back in Word 2003.

I don't know of a way to modify the behavior. Unfortunately this could be one of those situations where you can't please everyone. :-(
